bedside table art

Ultimate convenience, and healthy too!

This one is for SMN.

typography.

Image from 'Write here, right now'

I have always loved typography, the study of type. When designing the right text can make or break any format. Selecting the best type for the situation always takes the longest. The way the mid part of the letter 'e' is either flat or rounded is something I always look for, for example. The smallest angel can make the biggest impact.

For those who share my love for type, you must check out Gemme O'Brien, aka 'Mrs Eaves' Here.
The video attached 'Write here, right now' has made her famous worldwide.

Lace

Lace, a composition where the negative spaces are as important as the positive spaces.

While at university I explore the definition and practice of lace quite closely. I really valued the practice of traditional lace and applying it to modern day pieces, materials and techniques. Above is an image I came across a few years ago and treasure greatly. The shape of the top is very traditional, a small dip along the neck line and short capped sleeves but the lines, shapes and negative shapes are quite modern. I explored with leather during this project, please believe me when you don't know what you are doing and attempt to do all the delicate cutting by hand- it is quite a challenge, and a project I am yet to finish.

Unfortunately I cannot remember where I found it but by all means, credits deserved where they are due.

Pink Decor?

There is such a certain cleanliness with keeping a based white home. I love the pop of colour in the rug (and the elephant sitting quietly next to the wooden 'couch').

Anchor yourself to something special.

I have always attempted to surround myself with the right people, however I believe I always see the best in people and refuse to see the not so great. SMN- one of the best.

A new beginning..

After taking a long break from my minimal attempt at blogging, here is attempt number two.

I often find myself hunting through endless images on the web. Whether they be related to food, design, decor or fashion, they all manage to capture me, inspire and intrigue my senses in one way or another.

Perhaps this is a space for me to share my inner thoughts, or perhaps it is a shelves avenue for all the wonderful websites I come across.

In an attempt to tidy up the strays of my life, here come my thoughts... creative or otherwise.
